Bhavin Patel is the Director of Operations and the visionary founder behind Holistic Recovery, a mental health support organisation that has become a cornerstone of the community. With a strong business background rooted in his family's entrepreneurial ventures, Bhavin's journey into the business world began at 10, when he spent every school holidays helping out in his family business. These early experiences instilled in him a deep understanding of the fundamentals of sustainable business and the importance of giving back to the community.        
Bhavin holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and a Certificate IV in Mental Health, which marked the start of his professional career. Over the past 12 years, he has gained extensive experience in the mental health sector, working in various roles, including Mental Health Support Worker, Support Coordinator, Team Leader, and Management positions. His expertise is dealing with complex mental health issues in a person centred manner, and creating and maintaining sustainable businesses. Bhavin is particularly passionate about supported employment, believing it gives individuals a real purpose on their recovery journey.     
Bhavin's passion for creating profit-for-purpose businesses is evident in how he leads Holistic Recovery. What began as a small operation from his sunroom has grown significantly, earning a solid reputation in the community. Bhavin attributes this success to the dedicated team around him, whom he affectionately refers to as his "anchors." Together, they have built a company culture that prioritises the well-being of the people they support, always striving to add value to their lives and improve their quality of life.        
Outside of his professional life, Bhavin is a man of varied interests, driven by an active and curious mind. His hobbies range from playing the djembe and bike riding to target shooting and road cycling. One hobby that Bhavin has managed to keep up with is his delicious cooking. Bhavin loves cooking, and he believes that it's a great tool to unwind him. He embraces the diverse nature of his interests, always seeking new experiences to keep himself engaged.        
Bhavin has lived in Tamworth with his family for the past 16 years. He enjoys the close-knit, laid-back country lifestyle. He is deeply connected to the community and values the personalised interactions that come with country life. 
A believer in continuous self-improvement, Vipassana meditation left a huge impact on Bhavin when he had the opportunity to participate in it. This rigorous form of meditation involves ten days of isolation, complete silence, and intense self-reflection. He considers this practice one of the most transformative experiences of his life and looks forward to continuing this journey of self-discovery.

Director of Excellence

With over 15 years of experience in the mental health field, Payal Patel has worked extensively with not-for-profit organisations, government agencies, and individuals in Australia and India. Her career has been dedicated to supporting individuals with moderate to severe mental health needs through recovery-focused initiatives. Payal brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in delivering person-centred, trauma-informed, and culturally competent services.

Payal holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) from Central Queensland University (CQU) in Australia, a Graduate Diploma in Psychology from the University of New England (UNE), and a Master’s in Alternative Medicine (Homeopathy) from India. She is an AHPRA Registered Psychologist, an Advanced Behaviour Support Practitioner endorsed by NDIS, and a member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (MAAPi).

Throughout her career, Payal has honed a diverse set of skills. She has deep expertise in quality assurance methodologies and best practices, with a proven ability to develop, implement, and monitor quality improvement initiatives. A thorough understanding of regulatory and accreditation standards in mental health services informs her work. Clinically, Payal has an in-depth understanding of mental health conditions and interventions, which allows her to evaluate clinical practices and ensure they align with evidence-based standards.

Analytical and critical thinking are among Payal's strengths, enabling her to assess data, identify trends, and develop informed solutions. Her knowledge of compliance requirements and risk management strategies is extensive, and she is adept at developing and enforcing policies and procedures to mitigate risks. Additionally, Payal has strong project management skills, allowing her to oversee quality assurance projects from inception to completion while managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Outside of work, Payal enjoys movies, reading, travelling, and exploring different cuisines. These activities help her stay balanced and energised, allowing her to bring her best self to her professional role. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's words, "Be the change you want to see," Payal embodies this philosophy in both her personal and professional life.

Operations Manager

Angela is our Operations Manager and is leading the Tamworth team. she has a passion for mental health work, specialising in a holistic approach, recovery orientated practices and has strong advocacy for person centred care.

Angela's favourite aspect of working with the Holistic Recovery Team is being a part of such an open and supportive team.

Angela has been working in the mental health sector for over 15 years. She has a wide range of skills and experiences across multiple types of community service programs, here in Australia NSW & QLD, also internationally, UK and Canada. These types of programs have covered areas of homelessness, hoarding, addictive behaviours, emotional regulations, frequent presentations to emergency departments, community living and access to services.

Angela has gained a diploma in Mental Health and many other training and qualified achievements such as SMART training, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills (DBT), Motivational Interviewing and Hoarding and Squalor WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Planning).

Angela is always looking to expand her knowledge and understanding, building on professional development to better support the people in her community.

Angela has a strong passion for advocacy, wanting to make sure everyone's rights are upheld and respected. She is empathetic to the wide range of factors that can impact people's everyday lives. She is calm, supportive and understanding to situations and this ?is reflected through interactions with her.

Angela is an avid animal lover, secretly a sausage dog whisper, so you are likely to find her talking and interacting with any of the animals that cross her path!

Team Leader Outreach

Lauren Bryant is a seasoned professional with extensive experience as the Team Leader for Outreach Programs at Holistic Recovery. Her career began in dental and aged care roles, where she developed a solid foundation in clinical assisting, recruitment, management, and mentoring. With 17 years in the NSW Government Dental Health Sector, Lauren has held leadership positions that span both public and private dental practices. Her journey reflects a deep commitment to professional growth and excellence, which she now channels into her impactful work in the mental health field.

Lauren’s career began with hands-on experience in dental assisting and aged care, where she developed a strong work ethic and refined her leadership skills. Her journey in the NSW Government Dental Health Sector allowed her to excel in management and oral health promotion, supported by her Cert 3 and 4 in Dental Assisting and a Diploma in Leadership and Management. Driven by a passion for mental health, Lauren transitioned to this field and is currently nearing completion of a Diploma in Mental Health. This recent qualification complements her extensive background, enhancing her ability to make a meaningful impact in supporting and empowering individuals in their mental health journeys.

A passionate advocate for mental health, Lauren transitioned to the mental health industry in 2022. Her decision to join Holistic Recovery reflects her commitment to making a positive impact in this field. Currently, she is nearing completion of a Diploma in Mental Health, further enhancing her capability to support and empower individuals in their recovery journeys.

Lauren's role at Holistic Recovery involves leading the Outreach Program, where she applies her leadership qualities and caring nature to empower participants. She is driven by a genuine desire to bring positive change and support to those around her, embodying the values of Holistic Recovery.

Born in Wagga Wagga and the eldest of three children, Lauren enjoys spending quality time with her family and taking short holidays to the beach. Her personal philosophy is to “not worry until you need to, just take one day at a time.” She values the supportive and empowering environment at Holistic Recovery, appreciating the wonderful staff and the opportunity to contribute to participants' journeys.

Payne

Team Leader Young Adults and Accommodation

Michelle Payne brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as Team Leader at Holistic Recovery. Before having children, Michelle worked as a Mental Health Worker. After returning to the workforce, she served as an Educator at a Preschool, transitioned to a School Learning Support Officer for older children, and later worked as a Supervised Contact Worker in Foster Care. Now, she has the privilege of leading the team at Holistic Recovery. Michelle has completed a Certificate III in Children's Services, a Diploma in Children's Services, and an Indigenous Counselling Course (Binang Goonj). She is currently pursuing a Certificate IV in Mental Health.

Michelle is an effective communicator with a passion for helping people. She believes in treating others how she would like to be treated and has worked hard through her life experiences to grow and offer assistance to those less fortunate or in need. Living in Quirindi, Michelle enjoys the country lifestyle. She is 50 years old, married, and has three children aged 17, 19, and 21. Originally from Perth, she likes to visit her hometown as often as possible. Michelle is Indigenous and passionate about assisting and empowering her people to achieve their best.

In her downtime, Michelle enjoys watching movies and spending time with her family and animals, particularly her cat. She has a unique fondness for anything pickled, including pickled onions, gherkins, and olives. Michelle loves that every day is different at Holistic Recovery. She values her fantastic team's strength-based approach to engaging with and supporting participants, helping them achieve their goals. Michelle's dedication to her work and her team makes her an invaluable asset to Holistic Recovery.

Team Leader Armidale and Activity Groups

Maree Keating is the Team Leader for Armidale and Activity Groups at Holistic Recovery, bringing over 20 years of experience as a Learning Support Assistant to her role. Her diverse professional background spans the travel industry, banking, massage therapy, and event coordination for health modality specialists. Maree's extensive education includes studies in Psychology, a Diploma of Remedial Massage, a Certificate III in Education Support, a Certificate II in Skills & Training, and she is currently enrolled in a Certificate IV in Mental Health. She has also completed Mental Health First Aid for the Suicidal Person.

Maree is renowned for her exceptional people skills, ensuring that everyone she encounters feels at ease, comfortable, and welcomed. Her passion for helping others extends beyond her professional life; she is actively involved in community initiatives such as Clean Up Australia Day and the Black Dog Institute’s ‘One Foot Forward’ challenge. In 2021, Maree notably participated in Stars of Tamworth–Dance for Cancer, raising significant funds for the Cancer Council Tamworth region. Outside of work, Maree enjoys spending time in her garden, taking daily walks with her two dogs, reading, cooking, and hosting gatherings for family and friends.

With a distinguished career spanning twenty-seven years across various fields, Tamara Lawrence brings a wealth of experience to her role as Team Leader of Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching at Holistic Recovery. Her career has encompassed a range of fields such as Beauty Therapy, Bookkeeping, and Mental Health Support Work, ultimately leading her to specialize in the NDIS sector as a Team Coordinator and Support Coordinator/Psychosocial Recovery Coach. Tamara has proudly called the New England area her home throughout her life, providing her with deep-rooted connections and a profound understanding of the local community.

Tamara joined Holistic Recovery in early 2022 and has since thrived in the organization’s supportive and collaborative environment. Tamara values the opportunity to work within a team that fosters growth and shared learning. In her current role, Tamara is dedicated to empowering individuals by listening to their needs and guiding them towards achieving both short and long-term goals. Her extensive experience in the mental health field, spanning over nine years, underscores her commitment to delivering compassionate and effective support. Tamara holds a Certificate IV in Mental Health and has completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training, equipping her with the skills necessary to provide high-quality care and support.

Outside of her professional life, Tamara enjoys binge-watching Netflix series and is always on the lookout for new recommendations. Her favourite food is Thai, her favourite colour is purple, and she is a dedicated supporter of the Parramatta Eels. Meet Joanne McIntyre, the spirited Team Leader for Accommodation at Holistic Recovery! Joanne is all about helping participants discover and chase their unique recovery goals, working hand-in-hand with a fantastic multi-disciplinary team that embraces a holistic approach. With a solid background in operational management and team leadership, Joanne joined Holistic Recovery in February 2022. She embodies the values of respect, integrity, collaboration, innovation, and excellence.

Drawing from her personal experiences, Joanne has been a fierce advocate for family members with mental illnesses, helping them thrive and manage their conditions effectively within the community. Joanne is a lifelong learner, having earned her Certificate IV and Diploma in Community Services, and most recently, her Diploma in Mental Health. She’s always eager to expand her knowledge and skills. Passionate and driven, Joanne is dedicated to empowering individuals on their recovery journeys. Her strong communication skills and commitment to positive outcomes make her a beacon of support for participants, whether they’re having a great day or facing challenges.

Joanne’s empathy and calm demeanor shine through in every situation, making her a reliable and compassionate ally. And let’s not forget her love for unicorns! Joanne sees each person as a unique unicorn, each with their own special glitter trail.

Senior Business Support Officer

Bella joined the Holistic Recovery team in July 2022. The administrative knowledge that Bella provides will allow the Holistic Recovery Team to focus on the participants and their needs while she works in the background creating magic. Bella’s bubbly personality will often greet you on the phone when you contact Holistic Recovery and she will support you with your enquiry.

In Bella's role as Senior Business Support Officer, Bella supports her workplace by ensuring rosters are completed for staff and participants, provide billing checks, IT assistance, expense management and much more. 

Bella is currently undertaking studies in Cert IV Mental Health with an expected end date of September 2024. She has a strong passion for mental health work and is excited to work alongside an experienced team while continuing to grow her passion for mental health support work. Bella is passionate about continuous improvement and personal development and looks forward to growing her business knowledge through further studies.

Trainee Business Support Officer

Izzy Bukovac is currently a Trainee Business Support Officer at Holistic Recovery, marking her first role in the mental health field. Although new to this sector, Izzy brings a wealth of experience from previous fast-paced administrative roles that have focused on various aspects of wellbeing. She is actively working towards completing her Certificate IV in Business, with an expected completion date by the end of September.

In her role at Holistic Recovery, Izzy supports her colleagues with a variety of tasks, including graphic design, social media management, and the creation of workplace policies, procedures, and documents. Known for her friendly and welcoming demeanor, Izzy is often the first face you see when you walk in the door. Izzy is deeply passionate about working with people and is committed to expanding her knowledge in the mental health industry. Her long-term goal is to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy to further her impact in the field.

In her personal time, Izzy enjoys reading in the sun with her two cats, who keep her busy and entertained. She also participates in yoga sessions with friends and family to start her days with movement and positivity. Izzy values working in a diverse and accepting environment where she can be herself and feel supported. Alisa Brown is a dedicated Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach at Holistic Recovery, where she has been a vital part of the team. With a Certificate IV in Community Services earned in 2019, Alisa embarked on her career in mental health, driven by a deep commitment to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

After years working in both Management Positions and Real Estate, her passion and the fire in her stomach was for the field of Mental Health.

Alisa’s journey in the mental health field began when she met Bhavin in 2019 while working in another role. Their professional connection laid the foundation for her current position at Holistic Recovery, where she applies her expertise in psychosocial recovery coaching to support individuals with psychosocial disabilities. Her role encompasses all activities outlined in Support Coordination, enriched with specialized mental health training to help participants build independence, inclusivity, and empowerment as they pursue their personal goals.

Outside of work, Alisa cherishes time spent with her children and grandchildren, enjoying the simple pleasures of family life. Her passion for health and wellness is evident in her active lifestyle, which includes years of competing in triathlons and half Ironman events. Currently, Alisa finds joy in her new companion, a German Shepherd Dog, with whom she enjoys long walks and runs. She continues to stay active with swimming and gym workouts, emphasizing self-care and maintaining her health.

Support Coordinator / Psychosocial Recovery Coach

Zoe Marshall has been a dedicated professional in the community services industry since 2013, joining Holistic Recovery in April 2021. Throughout her career, she has pursued further studies in various community services courses, earning diplomas in community services, counselling, disability, child protection, and domestic family violence. Additionally, Zoe has completed courses in leadership, management, and business.

Outside of work, Zoe is quite an introverted person, which may surprise people. She has lived in Tamworth since she was a young child and has a deep connection to the community. Her children and dogs take up most of her spare time, and she enjoys a good binge-watch on streaming services. Zoe also values her solo time, often going for walks to relax and reflect.

Zoe believes in the importance of embracing all emotions, understanding that "positive and negative emotions don't cancel each other out; you don't have to be done with pain to make space for joy." She enjoys the constant learning her role provides and loves working with different services and individuals across all walks of life.

Tim Hancock brings extensive experience to his role as Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach at Holistic Recovery. His background includes working with state-funded HASI programs, outreach services, accommodation support, and NDIS programs, giving him a comprehensive understanding of various support systems. Tim is now focusing his career on the Support Coordination and Psychosocial Recovery Coaching sectors, where he leverages his expertise to make a meaningful impact.

Tim holds a Certificate IV in Mental Health, a Diploma in Business Informatics, and a Certificate IV in Frontline Management. His qualifications reflect a strong foundation in mental health support and management, equipping him with the skills needed to provide effective coordination and recovery coaching. Known for his quiet demeanor and reserved nature, Tim is deeply compassionate and committed to helping others. His approach to support is marked by kindness and a sincere desire to make a positive impact in the lives of those he works with.

Support Coordinator / Psychosocial Recovery Coach

Chris is a seasoned professional with a rich history of dedication and service in disability support and community services. Over the past three years, Chris has worked as a Local Area Coordinator for the NDIS, followed by 13 months as a Caseworker for a government department. His extensive experience includes 11 years as a Disability Support Worker in group homes for ageing and disability care and in other disability support organisations. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Education in Social Science, a Certificate IV in Disability, and a Certificate IV in Frontline Management.

His professional ethos is grounded in empathy, compassion, integrity, teamwork, and the continuous development and coaching of others. Chris is a devoted family man, having been married for 28 years. He and his wife have two children, and he takes great pride in watching them perform in local theatre productions around Armidale. As a family, they cherish annual traditions such as attending the Tamworth Country Music Festival and taking family photos each autumn at Gotswyck Chapel. In his leisure time, Chris enjoys playing golf every Saturday. He is also an avid sports fan, particularly of Rugby League, supporting the Bulldogs and NSW Blues and following Supercars, with a preference for Red Bull Racing.

Having recently joined our team, Christopher is enthusiastic about working with participants and their families and helping them connect with local support through their NDIS plans. He looks forward to contributing to their psychosocial recovery journeys and building their confidence. Christopher's extensive background and his empathetic and compassionate approach make him a valuable asset to our Holistic Recovery team.

Support Coordinator / Psychosocial Recovery Coach

Kyhra Davis is an enthusiastic Support Coordinator and Psychosocial Recovery Coach, embarking on her first job in the mental health industry after graduating from university. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology and a Bachelor of Justice. Passionate about mental health, Kyhra is eager to gain meaningful experience and make a positive impact in the field.

Kyhra believes in utilising the new experiences she faces in life and the workplace to foster her personal journey of growth and maturity. She embraces the perspective that life is a never-ending journey of learning, allowing her to appreciate and cherish every day and share that outlook with those around her.

Like many, Kyhra has her own struggles with mental health, which she views as a part of being human. She prioritises self-care, recognising that it looks different for everyone. For Kyhra, self-care includes meditating, going for drives while listening to music and singing her heart out, relaxing with Netflix or YouTube, playing her PlayStation, cooking and enjoying good food, playing sports, and indulging in a wholesome nap. Her personal motto is, "You won't know unless you try."

Kyhra appreciates the genuine support and kindness of her colleagues, feeling that everyone is authentic. This supportive environment makes reaching out for help easy and stress-free. The workplace's strong value on self-care ensures that everyone can honour their own needs without feeling guilty.

Senior Recovery Support Worker

Amy Simmons brings a unique blend of experiences and skills to our team as a Senior Recovery Support Worker. Her diverse background spans from interpreting car parts and selling groceries to fitting supportive bras, showcasing her adaptability and versatility. Since 2020, Amy has been dedicated to the community service industry, working as both a Service Coordinator and Support Worker.

Amy recently completed her Certificate IV in Community Services and holds current certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Conversations Training. Amy's ability to adapt and build rapport with participants is a testament to her commitment to meeting their individual needs and supporting them on their recovery journey.

As a dedicated mum, Amy treasures spending quality time with her family and friends. She loves entertaining, baking delicious treats, and engaging in community sport, like soccer on the weekends! Her favorite pastimes also include singing (albeit terribly, according to her) while cleaning and driving, which adds a touch of fun to her routine.

Amy believes in the mantra, "Be your own kind of beautiful," which reflects her passion for learning about people's journeys and helping them achieve their goals and aspirations. She thrives in a supportive and welcoming team environment and enjoys contributing to a collaborative and positive workplace.

Senior Recovery Support Worker

Gabby Dorrstein has dedicated nearly five years to working in disability and mental health and has never looked back. Throughout her career, she has enjoyed meeting countless amazing people and learning extensively about mental health and the NDIS. Gabby is committed to constantly updating qualifications and knowledge.

Gabby's passion lies in helping individuals realize that they are much more than their mental health challenges. She strongly believes in helping people understand that mental illness does not define them entirely. Her dedication is beautifully encapsulated in her guiding principle: "The strongest people are not just those who show strength in front of the world, but those who fight and win battles that others do not know anything about."

Working at Holistic Recovery, Gabby finds immense joy in the team's dedication and passion. She describes her work environment as one big family, where everyone is extremely person-centred, many have lived experiences, and all feel strongly about mental health. Vanessa holds a Certificate IV in Community Services and a Diploma in Counselling. The knowledge Vanessa has gained from her studies allows her to support the participants in improving their life skills and achieving their goals. 

Continuing her education in the mental health field will allow Vanessa to expand her knowledge. Having seen people struggle with mental health in her life, Vanessa knows that the recovery journey is not a straight line.

 The strength and empathy that Vanessa shows to each participant allows them to feel no judgement and safe. Vanessa’s strength comes from spending time with her family, friends, and pets. She brings this strength and compassion into her role as a crucial member of Holistic Recovery.

With a rich background in community and aged care services, Jessica O'Malley brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as a Senior Recovery Support Worker at Holistic Recovery. Jessica's career began in the Aged Care sector, where she excelled as a Case Manager. In this role, she adeptly managed Home Care Packages and coordinated a range of services to ensure elderly individuals could live independently and safely in their own homes.

Jessica's commitment to supporting individuals extends to her five years as a Disability Support Worker. Her academic achievements include a Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) and both Certificate IV and III in Community Services. These qualifications, combined with her active listening skills and problem-solving abilities, equip Jessica to support participants effectively in achieving their personal goals.

Her passion for the Mental Health sector has grown over the years, driven by a track record of success and a strong skill set developed through extensive experience. Jessica is known for her enthusiasm, self-motivation, reliability, and adaptability, making her well-suited to handle challenging situations with grace and efficiency.

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys walking and reading novels. Outside of her professional life, Deslee has a love for singing. However, her little chihuahua’s reaction to her car singing – giving her a dirty look and jumping into the back seat – humorously suggests her singing might not be as appreciated by all. Sue is known for her compassionate and creative approach to peer work, always striving to create a supportive and open environment for both participants and colleagues. She values the mutual respect and camaraderie within the team, which she believes is essential for fostering a positive and effective work atmosphere. Leon Brydon is a dedicated Recovery Support Worker at Holistic Recovery, embarking on a new and fulfilling career in the mental health field. With a diverse background that includes roles in the army and managing farms, Leon brings a unique perspective to his work, shaped by his experiences growing up in a small country town and his personal journey through a significant health scare three years ago. This pivotal moment taught him to focus on what truly matters and not to sweat the small stuff.

 

Leon is known for his kindness, patience, and acceptance, qualities that make him a compassionate and understanding support for both participants and colleagues. Outside of work, he cherishes spending quality time with his two children—affectionately called his "porkchops"—and his partner. His hobbies include mountain biking and hitting the gym, though he humorously admits to occasionally confusing ambition with ability on his rides. His kids often greet him with the question, "How many times did you fall off today, Dad?"

Recovery Support Worker

David Callard brings over a decade of experience in acute care settings to his role as a Recovery Support Worker. In his previous roles, he primarily worked as a wardsman and briefly in stores, where he assisted with CPR, transport of pathology specimens, patient transport, and other duties as required.

David is enrolled in Certificate IV in Community Services and has an enormous passion for horticulture. He recently completed a Certificate III in Landscaping and Horticulture.

David is known for his strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling him to connect with people at all levels, including those for whom English is a second language. He uses both verbal and non-verbal means to communicate effectively. His excellent planning skills ensure that a safe environment is always maintained.

Having lived and worked in various states and territories, David has a broad perspective on community and healthcare. He has worked in Queensland and NSW in various healthcare settings. David moved to Tamworth for its country lifestyle, which he prefers over the bustling city life of Sydney. He appreciates the supportive community it offers for raising a family.

David enjoys cooking BBQ and meat in his leisure time and has a long-held interest in this hobby. He also enjoys music and plays the guitar. He lives by the motto, “Be a little better today than you were yesterday.”

David joined Holistic Recovery for its supportive team environment and shared passion for mental health. Having faced his own struggles in the past, David finds it rewarding to see daily improvements in others. His dedication and personal experience make him a critical member to our team.

Geoff Bracken brings prior experience working with people with disabilities to his new role in the realm of mental health. Although new to this field, Geoff's commitment to making a difference is deeply personal. Having experienced the transformative effects of Holistic Recovery firsthand, he is inspired to help others navigate their own mental health challenges. Witnessing the power of comprehensive wellbeing approaches, Geoff is determined to be a catalyst for change and promote greater understanding and support for mental health initiatives.

Geoff enjoys spending time with his dogs, finding comfort and companionship in their presence. He is guided by the philosophy from Christina Yang in Grey's Anatomy: “Sometimes the future changes quickly and completely, and we’re left with only the choice of what to do next. We can choose to be afraid of it, to stand there trembling, not moving, assuming the worst that can happen, or we can step forward into the unknown and assume it will be brilliant.”

Currently, Geoff is pursuing his studies to become a Registered Nurse, further expanding his ability to provide comprehensive care and support. Gurpreet's self-care routine includes spending quality time with her daughter and going for walks. She finds joy in watching movies and considers cooking to be the best therapy for her. Guided by the belief that “Humanity is the best religion to serve”, Gurpreet is passionate about assisting people on their recovery journeys.

She also dedicates time to self-care activities such as facials, hot baths, listening to music, enjoying take-away food, and watching movies. A fun and quirky fact about Micharla is that when she was 12, she was convinced she was a vampire and is still unsure if she is or not.

Kelli Grace is a dedicated Recovery Support Worker with a diverse background and extensive experience in mental health and disability support. Her professional journey also includes roles as a Disability Employment Case Manager and Project Officer in health promotion, public health, and population health research, statistics, and data analysis.

Kelli has a Bachelor of Health Science and holds a Certificate IV in Disability Support. She is currently studying for a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Support. Her key skills and areas of expertise encompass mental health and disability support, health education, and vocational training. She has also taught health and community services at various TAFEs.

Kelli brings a wealth of life skills, compassion, and empathy to her work, having navigated through many life challenges herself. Her life journey has been filled with both happiness and sorrows, which has enriched her ability to support others.

Outside of work, Kelli enjoys Latin dance, attending book club, and participating in pub trivia. Cooking at the end of the day is one of her favorite ways to relax. Since 2017, he has been dedicated to the Disability and Mental Health sector, holding a Certificate of Attainment in Disability, a Yoga Teacher Diploma, and a Certificate in Nutrition.

Ian maintains balance in his life through yoga and organic gardening, practices that reflect his commitment to holistic well-being. He is guided by the belief that "He who has health has hope and he who has hope has everything."

Ian is particularly passionate about the impact of a healthy diet on mental health recovery. Recovery Support Worker

Joel Dietrich joined Holistic Recovery in July 2022. He is passionate about mental health and provides a person-centered approach to participants of Holistic Recovery and respects the individual needs of those who are on their recovery journey. He is commencing his Certificate IV in Mental Health to develop his skills and knowledge around mental health.

Joel’s eagerness to support participants and enthusiastic approach enhances his understanding that the road to recovery is never linear, it’s a journey. This journey is unique to each individual often with many stakeholders involved in this process.

Joel appreciates self-reflection as a tool which allows him to grow his skills to better support not only himself but participants. A positive mind set is important to Joel as these are key to growth and more importantly help with the bad days that we all inevitably have.

Video games are a passion of Joel’s and he will often spend his spare time playing something on his computer. When Joel is feeling more adventurous, he will find a hiking trail to explore the natural beauty of Tamworth. After some resistance Joel has recently started improving his physical health with the support of a personal trainer. Though Joel was reluctant at first to begin his fitness journey, his commitment to embrace the gym has had a positive impact on his physical and mental health that he has come to appreciate.
