Beacon Truck – A Community-Led Mobile Soup Kitchen

Beacon Truck – A Community-Led Mobile Soup Kitchen

The Beacon Truck is a mobile soup kitchen initiative initiated by Holistic Recovery and proudly supported by the local community, individuals, and businesses who donate food, clothing, and essential supplies.

What began as a grassroots idea has quickly grown into an integral part of the Tamworth community, offering practical support, connection, and dignity to people who may be doing it tough.

When and Where

The Beacon Truck operates every Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, located on Kable Avenue, near the Oval One, Tamworth.

Everyone is welcome. No referrals, no forms, and no expectations.

What the Beacon Truck Offers

Each week, the Beacon Truck provides:

  • Free, freshly prepared food
  • Free clothing and essential items, subject to availability
  • A safe, non-judgemental space to sit, talk, and connect
  • Friendly volunteers who are there to listen

Support is offered with respect, privacy, and compassion.

More Than a Meal

The Beacon Truck is about more than food — it’s about human connection.

Our volunteers take the time to listen and, where appropriate, provide warm referrals to local community services. Whether someone is:

  • Experiencing domestic or family violence
  • Facing homelessness or housing insecurity
  • Needing mental health support
  • Looking for disability advocacy or community assistance

We can help point people in the right direction, based on what they feel comfortable sharing. All conversations are voluntary, respectful, and person-led.

A Non-Judgemental Space

The Beacon Truck is grounded in the belief that everyone deserves kindness and support without judgement.

There are:

  • No labels
  • No pressure
  • No assumptions

Just a welcoming space where people are treated with dignity.

Community Impact

In a short amount of time, the Beacon Truck has become a trusted and familiar presence in the community by:

  • Supporting people during difficult periods of their lives
  • Reducing social isolation
  • Strengthening local connections and partnerships
  • Demonstrating the power of community-led care

Its success reflects the generosity of donors, the commitment of volunteers, and the strength of the Tamworth community.
